Caregivers need to take care of themselves, too

My husband’s cousin, Karen, is having a hard time taking care of her elderly parents right now. Between both parents, there is a knee replacement, a hip replacement, kidney failure and newly diagnosed lung cancer. Caring for aging parents is difficult and exhausting, both physically and mentally. In addition to her own full-time job, she is also caught in the quandary between helping them continue living at home, hiring in-home care or choosing an expensive live-in nursing facility.

With all these decisions I know that Karen doesn’t take care of herself very well. When is there time, right?
